Draft Itinerary

Day 1An early morning departure has us heading for an overnight stay at the exclusive Greenbrier Resort. Explore this magnificent American Treasure or try your luck in the new casino with your $20 Free slot play credit! Lunch and Dinner on own.

Day 2. Bunker Tour – Enjoy your included Greenbrier breakfast, explore the resort and tour the infamous Bunker. Carved deep into the mountainside, The Bunker is the once top-secret emergency Cold War fallout shelter built to house the Federal Government in the event of nuclear war. Now de-classified, it is available to tour! After our tour, check-out of the hotel and head to Virginia Beach for a four-night stay at the Ocean Front Best Western Plus Hotel! Lunch and Dinner on own along the way.

Day 3. Breakfast. Colonial Williamsburg with your Revolutionary City Half-Day Ticket. Tour the Governor’s Palace, Capitol or Raleigh Tavern and learn of the debates that raged in the years leading to independence. Visit a trade shop or historic house and discover everyday life of Williamsburg’s 18th – century residents. Time on your own for lunch and to shop in the village. Return to Virginia Beach for an included Seafood Buffet at Captain George’s!

Day 4. Breakfast and then off to Norfolk’s Naval Base where we will enjoy a guided riding tour through the world’s largest naval installation (government issued photo ID required). Conducted by Navy personnel, you will ride past aircraft carriers, destroyers, submarines and historic homes from the 1907 Jamestown Exposition. Lunch on own and then visit the General Douglas MacArthurdou Memorial where you will view a 20 min. film and see mementos of his distinguished career plus visit his burial site. Next, visit the Chrysler Museum of Art, one of America’s great fine arts museums including the collection of automobile heir Walter P Chrysler Jr. Finally, board the Spirit of Norfolk for a delicious buffet dinner and narrated cruise.

Day 5. Following breakfast, depart for Nauticus – The National Maritime Center dedicated to marine exploration and naval might. Enjoy hands-on exhibits, 3D film on a giant screen and a self-guided tour of the Battleship Wisconsin. Visit Norfolk’s’ newly-opened Waterside District where you can enjoy lunch on your own. Return to the hotel for Beach and/or Boardwalk free time for you this afternoon – Relax and enjoy! Dinner included tonight!

Day 6. Breakfast and hit the road to head home. Bus day with movies, bingo, etc. Spend the night at a roadside hotel near tomorrow’s attraction.

Day 7. Breakfast. Head out for our visit to Portal 31 in Lynch, KY to learn the importance and history of coal mining and its contribution to the growth of our country. Enjoy the unique experience of touring an actual coal mine in a real coal mining car. See eight animated exhibits inside the mine depicting what life was like as a coal miner. Head for home with delightful memories of this trip!
